In church on Sunday our pastor reminded us that “Every good and perfect thing comes from God”. To believe that you can find anything truly worthwhile apart from him is a lie. It’s so simple, yet so true. Often I find myself distracted with the comforts of this life, instead of focusing on his “infinite joy” that is offered. it reminds me of this C.S. Lewis quote:
We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
